Jay S. Handlin and Lyndon M. Tretter Join Wollmuth Maher & Deutsch LLP
NEW YORK, April 29, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Wollmuth Maher & Deutsch LLP today announced that Jay S. Handlin and Lyndon M. Tretter have joined the Firm's Litigation & Dispute Resolution Group as partners effective April 1, 2016.
Mr. Handlin, 57, a graduate of the Harvard Law School and law clerk to Judge Jon O. Newman on the Second Circuit, began his law firm career at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in New York, and has since served as in-house litigation counsel for The Walt Disney Company in Burbank, California, and been a partner at Glaser Weil Fink Howard Avchen & Shapiro LLP in Los Angeles and Carlsmith Ball LLP in Los Angeles and Honolulu, Hawaii. He has handled trials, arbitrations, regulatory contested cases, and appeals involving complex contract, licensing, and environmental issues, and has defended numerous class actions. Mr. Handlin's representative matters include defending iconic rock band Aerosmith in a consumer class action resulting from a canceled concert, and representing a Fortune 100 company in Delaware stockholder derivative litigation involving executive compensation and corporate governance. He has also represented entertainment industry clients in a broad range of intellectual property disputes.
Mr. Tretter, 56, a University of Michigan Law School graduate and Second Circuit law clerk for Judge J. Edward Lumbard, was a partner for twenty years in the New York offices of Hogan Lovells US LLP, and its predecessors, Hogan & Hartson and Davis Weber & Edwards. He specializes in representing clients in the financial services and health care industries and has handled several trials, arbitrations and internal investigations in a wide variety of securities, corporate, consumer fraud/RICO and intellectual property litigation matters. Mr. Tretter's representative matters include defense of a brand-name drug manufacturer in the trial of a federal multi-district consumer fraud class action, as well as in Attorney General actions in over 15 states, relating to the pricing, distribution and reimbursement of prescription drugs through Medicare Part B, Medicaid and private health insurance. He also represented ex-Worldcom CEO Bernie J. Ebbers in multi-district securities and ERISA class action litigation.
