Jawa Donates to Muscular Dystrophy Association's Lock Up Program
Funds Will Enable Phoenix-Area Kids Affected By Neuromuscular Disease To Attend Special MDA Summer Camps
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Sept. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Scottsdale-based software and interactive media firm, Jawa, is pleased to announce its participation in the Muscular Dystrophy Association Lock Up, a unique fundraising event in which local community leaders are 'arrested' and put in MDA jail for having a big heart. Two Jawa staff members were nominated to go behind bars for the September 22 Lock Up event and posted maximum bail, courtesy of Jawa. The bail money will help send Phoenix-area kids affected by neuromuscular disease to special MDA summer camps where they can fish, swim, horseback ride and play baseball, among other activities.
Jawa's donation to the MDA will be part of its employee-driven philanthropy program, 'Jawa Gives' which allows employees to nominate individual charities that have positively affected their lives to receive a donation; a different charity being selected each month. The MDA was nominated by an employee whose brother is affected by Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and who has spent much time volunteering for the organization.
"The opportunity to participate in the MDA Lock Up is an honor and I couldn't be prouder that Jawa and its employees have the reputation of being service leaders in our community. I never imagined sending two of my staffers 'behind bars' would be so much fun; I was happy to pay their bail, although I did make them sweat it out a bit," said Jawa CEO, Jason Hope.
The Muscular Dystrophy Association of Phoenix joins a fantastic group of organizations that have received donations through 'Jawa Gives.' Most recently, Jawa has donated to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Phoenix, the Sierra Club Grand Canyon Chapter, Phoenix Zoo, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Desert Mountain States Chapter, Donor Network of Arizona and Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix.
