Jaspersoft Names New Chief Marketing Officer and Product Strategy VP to Accelerate Growth and Customer Success
SAN FRANCISCO, May 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Jaspersoft, the world's most widely used business intelligence software, today announced the appointment of two senior executives. Jim Bell joined Jaspersoft as chief marketing officer and Karl Van den Bergh, a former general manager at Business Objects, joined Jaspersoft as vice president of product strategy.
"To help manage Jaspersoft through an unprecedented growth phase, I'm pleased to bring on these experienced executives with proven track records of success in building global organizations focused on customers, community and new market opportunities," said Jaspersoft CEO Brian Gentile. "Both Jim and Karl will be great assets to Jaspersoft, bringing the right caliber of industry-specific experience and strategic thinking to ensure continued success for our business around the globe."
In April 2010, Gartner recognized Jaspersoft as the highest growth business intelligence vendor worldwide, based on revenue estimates. In first quarter of 2010, Jaspersoft surpassed key industry milestones, now with more than 135,000 registered community members, 12,000 commercial customers and nearly 11 million total product downloads. Helping to accelerate this growth requires additional leadership.
As chief marketing officer, Jim Bell will oversee all aspects of marketing including community growth, customer acquisition and new market expansion. Bell brings extensive experience in marketing leadership, helping fuel growth in start-ups as well as larger enterprises. He has built and led successful teams at several companies, including most recently SmartTurn, Electric Cloud and Actuate.
"I'm excited to be joining Jaspersoft and helping expand the reach of the world's most widely-used business intelligence software," said Bell. "There may be no better place in enterprise software to be right now than BI and with Jaspersoft. Few other companies, open source or proprietary, are growing as fast commercially and have such strong community success with nearly six software downloads occurring every minute and 135,000 members."
Karl Van den Bergh comes to Jaspersoft with 18 years of international startup and enterprise experience in software, hardware, SaaS, and open source-based products. At Jaspersoft, he will oversee product strategy, product management and product marketing. Van den Bergh most recently served as vice president, marketing and alliances at Kickfire, an open source-based data warehouse appliance start-up and Jaspersoft partner. Before Kickfire, he spent seven years at Business Objects in various positions, ultimately serving as the general manager of the Information On-Demand business. Prior roles at the company involved corporate strategy, M&A, product management, and product marketing.
"Jaspersoft has brought to market an impressive range of BI solutions that enable new types of visually-compelling, interactive applications even in the most demanding use cases," Van den Bergh said. "The stage is now set for an aggressive and expansive roadmap that focuses on product excellence, and I'm pleased to be on the experienced leadership team tasked with delivering that promise to our community and customers."
