Japjit Tulsi Joins StumbleUpon as Vice President of Engineering
San Francisco Tech Company Strengthens Senior Leadership, Adds 20th Googler to Roster
SAN FRANCISCO, July 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- StumbleUpon, the leading way to find personalized Web and mobile content, today announced that Japjit Tulsi, most recently a director of engineering at Google, has joined the company's executive team as vice president of engineering.
In his new role, Tulsi reports to CEO and co-founder Garrett Camp and oversees all of StumbleUpon's engineering functions including product development, recommendation science and infrastructure. Tulsi started at StumbleUpon on July 5 and replaces Ari Balogh, who left the company. His hire brings the overall employee roster to 25 percent ex-Googlers.

Tulsi spent the last six years at Google as a director of engineering, where among other things he was responsible for building Google Analytics into one of the world's largest Web analytics systems and recently led the development of YouTube's long-form content efforts. Prior to Google, Tulsi was group manager of engineering at Microsoft, where for more than five years he led a Web services incubation team, a data mining group and data warehousing. He was also tapped to participate in the company's highly selective executive development program.
