Japanese Utility TEPCO Joins Wi-SUN Alliance As Adopter Member
Support from Japan's Largest Utility Helps Accelerate Adoption of Advanced Wireless Smart Utility Networks, Interoperability for Utility Applications
MORGAN HILL, Calif., Feb. 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Wi-SUN Alliance today announced that Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), Japan's largest power company is its newest adopter member. TEPCO joins other major global utility companies that are adopting Wi-SUN solutions to ensure interoperability for utility applications.
TEPCO supplies energy to the greater Kanto area, including Japan's two most populous cities, Tokyo and Yokohama. Its role in the Wi-SUN Alliance will be key in promoting adoption of open industry standards that advance wireless Smart Utility Networks. This will help ensure that industry growth is compatible with specific regional regulations in Japan.
