Japanese Smartphone Use for Business Drives Record Sales Growth for Sendmail
Promotes Nobuhiro Suemasa to Vice President to Build on Success
SAN FRANCISCO, June 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Buoyed by Japan's rapid adoption of smartphones and mobile email, Sendmail today announced it is experiencing regional sales growth of more than 300 percent over the past three years under the leadership of Japan Country Manager Nobuhiro Suemasa who was recently promoted to Sendmail Vice President.
With smartphones surpassing feature phones as the most acquired device in Japan last February (comScore), mobile phone users are sending and consuming more media there than ever before—including email and accompanying attachments. As of April, 57.6 million Japanese consumers were accessing mobile email on their phones.
"The surge in mobile devices as email access points can become a headache for both organizations and email service providers as workforces start using their personal smartphones to send corporate email along with spreadsheets, contracts, presentations, video and other large attachments," said Sendmail President and COO Glen D. Vondrick. "In Japan, where smart phone usage is growing rapidly, Suemasa-san and his team have helped Sendmail customers modernize their messaging infrastructure to address the dramatic increase in email and SMTP message volumes for these devices."
Sendmail's email infrastructure software components, the Sentrion Email Infrastructure Platform and associated Sentrion Application Store apps, are now used by more than 600 organizations in Japan, including 9 of the country's 10 largest email service providers and mobile operators, for a total of 50 million mailboxes.
"Due to the rapid adoption of smartphones in Japan for business use, there is a tremendous opportunity for Sendmail to help enterprises and email service providers successfully support the demand for critical smartphone messaging features," said Nobuhiro Suemasa, Vice President, Country Manager, Japan. "With a thriving reseller, integrator, and solution partner ecosystem, Sendmail is well positioned to support the latest advances in text and business email communications by providing customers with integration services and an email infrastructure platform that leverages existing investments in legacy email technology with mobile devices."
