Japanese Firm Sets Up Scraper Bucket Manufacturing Facility in China's Changzhou Hi-Tech District
CHANGZHOU, China, Nov. 23, 2010 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- The grand opening ceremony for the establishment of Komatsu Construction Machinery Equipment Accessories (Changzhou) was held in Changzhou National Hi-Tech District (CND), Jiangsu province, China recently. With an investment of US$8.4 million, Komatsu Construction Machinery Equipment Accessories (Changzhou) will specialize in the research and development, manufacturing and marketing of scraper buckets used for mining and engineering machinery as well as related accessories.
As an indispensable supporting manufacturing unit of Komatsu (Changzhou) Engineering Machinery, Komatsu Construction Machinery Equipment Accessories (Changzhou) is designed to produce 1,600 scraper buckets and construction machinery equipment accessories annually. The manufacturing facility, scheduled to be completed in four years, will produce 160 scraper buckets, 22 ridge busters and 10 grab buckets in 2010 and operate at full capacity in 2013. Production lines will employ processes including jointing, machine processing, spray painting, drying and assembly.
The manufacturing facility, one of the larger Japan-funded projects at CND in recent years, is expected to generate sales of RMB70 million (approx. US$11 million) next year. One of the project investors, Acrow Machinery Mfg., boasts cutting-edge technologies in terms of engineering machinery, industrial machinery and relevant accessories and parts manufacturing.
Komatsu Industrial Park at CND is an important milestone for Komatsu's expansion in China. The first phase of the industrial park is under construction. At present, the park is home to a number of companies including Komatsu (Changzhou) Engineering Machinery, Komatsu (China) Investment Changzhou Product Technology Development Center, Changzhou Katsushiro Machinery, Changzhou Tagamiex Machinery, Komatsu Construction Machinery Equipment Accessories (Changzhou) and Changzhou Uchimura. With a focus on Komatsu (Changzhou) Engineering Machinery, the industrial park will become a world-class engineering machinery R&D and manufacturing base featuring manufacturing, technology and supporting facilities.
Changzhou has become one of China's more livable cities as well as a hot investment destination in recent years, given the significant improvement in the city's environment, architecture and living standards.
