Janice L. Tuchman, Editor-in-Chief of Engineering News-Record, Elected to National Research Council Board on Infrastructure and the Constructed Environment
NEW YORK, July 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Board on Infrastructure and the Constructed Environment (BICE), an operating unit of the Division on Engineering and Physical Sciences of the National Research Council (NRC), has elected Janice L. Tuchman, editor-in-chief of Engineering News-Record (ENR), to serve as the Board's new expert on built environment disciplines. Jan Tuchman is one of four new members recently named to this independent forum, which advises executive and legislative branches of government and the private sector on issues related to science, technology and public policy, and the relationship between the constructed and natural environments and their interaction with human activities.
"An experienced leader, Jan continues to play an active and influential role in the construction and publishing industries," said Keith Fox, president, McGraw-Hill Construction. "Her service on committees and boards, such as BICE, paves the road to future strategies and solutions for public policy and the built environment in general."
Selected for her contributions to delivering news and analysis online, in print and at events, Jan Tuchman is a recognized leader in the construction and publishing industries. Under her leadership, the ENR team won five prestigious Jesse H. Neal awards in March 2011. As editor-in-chief, Jan Tuchman directs the editorial operations of the ENR enterprise; works on strategic planning; and develops new editorial products, projects and issues.
BICE formed in 1953 following an NRC study. Other board members added this month include Jim Whittaker, president of Facility Engineering Associates; Jim Rispoli, president and CEO of Project Time & Cost; and Hillary Brown, FAIA, principal of New Civic Works.
