Janet Beard Named 2015 Recipient Of Evelyn Timmons Advocacy Award For Dedication To The Pharmacy Compounding Industry

HOUSTON, June 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- On June 8, PCCA announced that Janet Beard, RPh, co-owner of Harvest Drug in Wichita Falls, TX, is the recipient of the 2015 Evelyn Timmons Advocacy Award. The award pays tribute to Evelyn Timmons, a pioneer in the compounding industry, by honoring a passionate, committed, and tenacious female compounding pharmacist who is advancing the compounding pharmacy industry in their community and as a profession.

Janet has been contributing to the compounding industry for the past 21 years, and has co-owned Harvest Drug in Wichita Falls, TX with her husband, Rick, since 1982. She is passionate about her patients, and is always willing to go the extra mile to help others. She is actively involved with Southwestern Oklahoma State University's School of Pharmacy; participating on the dean's advisory board, foundation board, and student's preceptor program. In 2013, she was honored by the university with the Distinguished Preceptor of the Year Award. She was also honored as PCCA's National Compounding Pharmacist of the Month in November 1997. She has inspired her children, Joe and Jacob, and daughter-in-law, Marie, who are all Doctors of Pharmacy, to get involved in the compounding industry.
Janet has spent countless hours working to advance awareness for the compounding industry within her community and on Capitol Hill. She has attended many industry Capitol Hill visits where she has spent time speaking with her legislators about the importance of the compounding industry to constituents. Janet has also hosted Congressman Mac Thornberry's (R-TX) office at Harvest Drug a variety of times to educate staff on compounding.

Evelyn Timmons, RPh, was a pioneer and a nationally renowned figure in the use of bio-identical hormones for women, as well as a long-standing advocate of pharmacy compounding. As one of the first female pharmacists in Arizona, she received numerous national awards during her career. Timmons was the first woman president of the American College of Apothecaries (ACA), and was among the first full fellows of the International Academy of Compounding Pharmacists (IACP).
