NEW YORK, July 27, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Burson-Marsteller, a leading global public relations and communications firm, today announced Jane Madden has joined the firm as Managing Director, Head of Corporate Responsibility. Madden has 25 years of experience as an authority on corporate responsibility strategy; Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) performance; and communications. She is a senior member of the firm's U.S. Corporate and Financial Practice and reports to the Practice Chair and New York Market Leader, Alan Sexton. Madden is based in Chicago.
Throughout her career, Madden has advised Fortune 500 companies in the extractives, consumer packaged goods, healthcare, food and apparel industries on social impact, conflict minerals, ESG reporting and stakeholder engagement. "Most organizations understand their responsibility to society, their employees and the environment – and the impact that responsibility has on corporate reputation and the bottom line," said Michael Law, Burson-Marsteller U.S. CEO. "Yet, according to the Burson-Marsteller/CNBC Corporate Perception Indicator, 62 percent of the general public in developed and emerging markets say they are not hearing enough from corporations about social responsibility, so there is an incredible opportunity to create a dialogue. Jane is a recognized leader and trusted advisor in corporate responsibility and we are thrilled to have a counselor of her caliber on our team."
Before joining Burson-Marsteller, Madden served as a Partner and the Sustainability Practice Leader at Environmental Resources Management (ERM) and as a Principal at Mission Measurement. Prior to that, she was an Executive Vice President at Edelman where she launched the firm's Chicago CSR & Sustainability practice. Madden also served on the Bank's Community Outreach Committee, the Development Marketplace assessment team and was the World Bank representative to the International Literacy Network. Earlier in her career, Madden held positions at CARE, UNICEF, and the European Union.
"Now more than ever, companies realize that corporate responsibility is a strategic business imperative that mitigates risk and optimizes opportunity," said Madden. "I look forward to helping Burson-Marsteller's clients build and execute programs that demonstrate their commitment to their shareholders, employees, society and the environment."
