Jana Collier Named Publisher of New Cox Ohio Newspapers
Collier, a seasoned media veteran, will lead the company's three Ohio Newspapers -- Dayton Daily News, the Springfield News-Sun and the Journal-News.
ATLANTA, March 2, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Cox Enterprises has named Jana Collier publisher of Cox's Ohio newspapers, which include the Dayton Daily News, the Springfield News-Sun and the Journal-News.
Collier is a seasoned media veteran with more than 30 years of experience. She started her career with Cox in 1988 as a reporter of the Waco Tribune-Herald and came to Dayton in 2001 as features editor of the Dayton Daily News. Collier recently served as vice president of Content at CMG Ohio, before stepping in as the interim executive editor and operations leader of the Ohio newspapers.
"The future is bright for the Ohio newspapers and I'm excited to drive their success forward with the support of Cox Enterprises," said Collier.
Collier will report to Donna Hall, publisher of Cox-owned The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, to position the newspapers for the future and continue to serve the Ohio community.
"Cox has always been committed to journalism and is excited to have the opportunity to maintain the quality of and access to information," said Hall. "We are confident that Jana will play an integral leadership role in continuing the Cox legacy of reliable, compelling journalism that makes a difference in the communities we serve."
Cox Enterprises recently reached an agreement with Cox Media Group ("CMG") to purchase the Ohio papers, following a recent federal court decision reinstating an old FCC rule that prohibits a single owner from operating both a daily newspaper and a broadcast station in the same market. Cox passionately believes in delivering quality journalism seven days a week to the Dayton communities, which the company has served for over 120 years.
