Jamie Hopkins Named Co-Director of The American College New York Life Center for Retirement Income
BRYN MAWR, Pa., Dec. 23, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Jamie Hopkins, considered one of the leading retirement income planning experts in the United States, has been named co-director of The American College New York Life Center for Retirement Income.
As a professor at The American College of Financial Services, Hopkins has educated thousands of professionals in retirement, estate planning, and life insurance. He joins David Littell as co-leader of the Center, an academic think tank dedicated to elevating the retirement income planning knowledge of financial advisors.
His commitment to retirement planning was instrumental in the establishment of The College's Retirement Income Certified Professional® (RICP®) program, one of the most sought after credentials in the industry. With approximately 10,000 Americans reaching the age of 65 every day, the RICP® was designed to meet the growing need for rigorously prepared advisors who can help consumers address their retirement income challenges. Established in 2012, more than 10,000 advisors have already enrolled.
"Jamie is integral to the future of The College," said Robert Johnson, President and CEO of The American College of Financial Services. "His expertise in retirement income planning has and continues to make the RICP® program the industry standard. His ability to synthesize and communicate complex topics is a particular strength."
Just last month, Hopkins published an eBook on retirement income planning called "Retirement Risks: How To Plan Around Uncertainty For A Successful Retirement," which has become one of the top sellers in its category on Amazon. Also in the last year, Hopkins was voted one of the top 40 financial services professionals under the age of 40 by InvestmentNews.
In his new role as co-director of the Center, Hopkins says his primary goal is to continue to push the RICP® program to new heights.
"The RICP® program really has the opportunity to be transformative for the financial services industry," Hopkins said. "It is teaching advisors a truly comprehensive approach to retirement income planning right at a time when the Baby Boomers are retiring, the government is pushing retirement changes, and public attention is firmly planted on the topic. The RICP® is an evolving program. It will continue to change and grow over time to further meet the expectations and educational needs of financial advisors."
Hopkins has been widely published and quoted in academic, trade, and consumer publications. A regular contributor for Forbes, he has written more than 50 articles for the business publication in just the last two years. In addition, Hopkins is a highly sought after speaker. In January, he is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at ReverseVision's inaugural User Conference 2016. In May, Hopkins will speak at the InvestmentNews Retirement Income Summit.
