Jacqueline Kennedy's "Sweet Little Chandelier" At Potomack Company Auction November 5
ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Jacqueline Kennedy's "sweet little chandelier" from the Kennedys' Washington, D.C., home prior to moving to the White House will spotlight The Potomack Company's politically themed Presidential, Historical and Political Auction on November 5.
Mrs. Kennedy purchased the elegant glass chandelier at a flea market in Paris to furnish her Georgetown home, and it is one of several antiques and documents from two John F. Kennedy family residences in the sale.
The Potomack Company (www.potomackcompany.com) marks the presidential election every four years with a patriotic selection of political memorabilia, documents and other historical items. The November 5th sale includes a rare autograph album with 31 documents signed by every President from George Washington through Franklin Delano Roosevelt (1793-1932), all but five signed while in office as President and each accompanied by an engraved portrait.
The Kennedys' "Camelot" era style is also reflected in a garden fountain, wall sconces, personal papers, handwritten notes and the deed of sale signed by President and Mrs. Kennedy upon their move from Georgetown to the White House. During their White House years, the Kennedys leased Glen Ora, a 400-acre horse farm near Middleburg, VA, to enjoy as a private weekend getaway where Mrs. Kennedy could ride her horses and the family could relax in an atmosphere of country glamour. Glen Ora furnishings at Potomack Company include the 18th Century carved oak bed in which President Kennedy slept, two Louis XV parquetry commodes from the room Mrs. Kennedy used as her bedroom, and other 18th and 19th Century French and English paintings and antiques.
