PASADENA, Calif., June 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) announced today that it was selected to receive the 2011 Cogswell Award, the most prestigious honor the Defense Security Service can bestow to cleared industry, in recognition of its support of the Johnson Space Center in Houston.
The Cogswell Award recognizes outstanding participation and compliance with the National Industrial Security Program by contractor facilities. It is presented on an annual basis to the most prestigious in the industrial security field; of the more than 13,000 cleared contractors, less than one-tenth of one percent are annually selected to receive this award.
Established in 1966, the Cogswell Award is named in honor of the late Colonel James S. Cogswell, United States Air Force, the first chief of the unified office of Industrial Security. Colonel Cogswell was responsible for developing the basic principles of the Industrial Security Program and emphasized the importance of the partnership between industry and government to accomplish industrial security objectives.
