Jacob M. Buchowski, MD, MS, named member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Board of Directors
SAN DIEGO, March 17, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- St. Louis orthopaedic surgeon Jacob M. Buchowski, MD, MS, became a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) Board of Directors today at the organization's 2017 Annual Meeting.
Dr. Buchowski is a professor of orthopaedic surgery and neurological surgery at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He is also the director of the Spine Fellowship and the director of the Spinal Tumors Center. Dr. Buchowski specializes in surgical treatment of primary and metastatic spinal tumors, adult spine deformity, and complex reconstructive spine surgery of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine.
Dr. Buchowski received both a Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in molecular biophysics and biochemistry from Yale University in New Haven, CT. He attended medical school at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, where he also completed his orthopaedic surgery residency and served as administrative chief resident at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Following his residency, Dr. Buchowski completed a spine surgery fellowship with the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine.
His research interests include clinical outcomes following surgical and nonsurgical treatment for primary spinal tumors and metastatic spine disease and clinical outcomes following surgery for adult spinal deformity and complex reconstructive surgery. Dr. Buchowski has been actively involved with AAOS and other orthopaedic and spine surgery societies.
