ISLANDIA, N.Y., March 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CA, Inc. (Nasdaq:CA), the world's leading independent IT management software company, today announced its executive vice president of Strategy and Corporate Development, Jacob Lamm, has been elected to serve on the Board of Directors of The New York State Smart Grid Consortium. The Consortium is a not-for-profit, public-private partnership founded to promote broad statewide implementation of a safe, secure and reliable smart electric power grid.
"Our nation's electrical power infrastructure is running up against its limitations, and CA is committed to help address this problem," said Lamm. As a Board member, Lamm will provide insights into the role technology can play in the development of the smart grid in New York State, including the measurement, monitoring and management of energy consumption.
"CA is proud to be part of this initiative focused on transforming New York's legacy power infrastructure into a smart grid," continued Lamm. "New York State has an opportunity to serve as an example for the rest of the country, leading to more sustainable, reliable and affordable energy."
Lamm is responsible for managing CA's overall business strategy and driving growth opportunities in new markets. As part of this effort, he oversaw the development and recent launch of CA ecoSoftware, the company's energy, carbon, and sustainability management solution. Prior to CA, Lamm's more than 20 years of experience includes founding Professional Help Desk and serving in a number of senior management roles at Con Edison, where he led projects to integrate new technologies into the company's business systems.
"The Board is pleased to welcome Jacob Lamm, who we're confident will contribute significantly to our mission to make the smart grid a reality in the State of New York," said Consortium Chairman Bob Catell. "CA has demonstrated its commitment to helping overcome energy efficiency challenges — both in its own business and for its customers. We expect this experience will prove very helpful as we work together to drive improvements in the electric power grid across the State."
