Jacksonville University to Assist RN to BSN Degree Completion Students Formerly Attending Breckinridge School of Nursing
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Sept. 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Jacksonville University is offering transition assistance for RN to BSN degree completion students formerly enrolled in the Breckinridge School of Nursing.
"When we learned of the closure of ITT Tech and the Breckinridge School of Nursing, we were deeply saddened by the impact this would have on students who've no doubt invested a great deal of time, financial resources, and energy into achieving their dreams," said Carla Fry, PhD, MSN, Undergraduate Program Director for the Nathan M. Bisk Center for Online Learning at the Brooks Rehabilitation College of Healthcare Sciences. "Though we are not completely aware of the volume of RN-BSN students displaced by the closure of ITT Tech, we feel strongly enough to act."
JU is offering flexibility with transfer credits (including some of the Nursing courses themselves) and an academic plan for former Breckinridge students who were very near degree completion. The fully accredited JU online RN-BSN program is structured as 8-week courses. There are ten nursing courses totaling 32 credit hours, and all general education core courses are also available online should students still need them. Tuition is competitive per credit hour with six session starts per year.
"We believe that every nurse who returns to school to finish his or her Bachelor's degree is forever changed...they learn to think differently, they engage in evidence based research activities designed to improve patient outcomes, and they become change agents better prepared for the rapidly evolving field of health care," said Dr. Fry. "Those on the important journey to BSN completion should be afforded every opportunity to complete it."
We are currently enrolling for our Fall II session which begins October 24, 2016 and look forward to communicating with former ITT Tech Students about their options at Jacksonville University. Please visit www.jacksonvilleu.com to learn about what you can do next.
