Jacksonville University Launches Master of Science in Health Informatics 100% Online, Bisk Education Announces
Informatics is an essential discipline to store, manage and recover medical data.
TAMPA, Fla., Sept. 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Jacksonville University is adding a Master of Science degree in the rapidly expanding field of Health Informatics to its online programs.
The program, offered 100% online, will provide graduates with knowledge needed to succeed in areas such as healthcare management, database management, systems development and more, along with skills in data analytics through SAS and SPSS, medical coding, clinical system analysis and design and healthcare data exchange.
"This is a great time to get into health informatics. New opportunities are emerging that will allow healthcare organizations to automate clinical processes and provide care services more efficiently and effectively. The ultimate goal is for all healthcare organizations to use those outcomes in more useful ways toward establishing a safer, cheaper, faster, fully automated, and securely integrated healthcare system," said Dr. Patrick Casimir, Assistant Professor and Director of the Health Informatics Program for JU.
The Master of Science in Health Informatics degree can qualify graduates for positions such as researchers, healthcare IT product managers, clinical informatics specialists, nursing informatics specialists or directors of clinical applications in a range of settings including hospitals, government agencies, insurance or laboratories.
Through this interdisciplinary degree, graduates will gain knowledge in health informatics, health data analytics, big data, health information and database systems management and healthcare information technology to improve patients' well-being.
According to labor analytics firm Burning Glass in 2014, employers are having difficulty finding qualified applicants to fill health informatics positions.
Jacksonville University, consistently ranked among America's best colleges by U.S. News & World Report, has a prominent reputation in online healthcare education with more than 3,200 graduates.
Applications and registrations are now being accepted for this fall. For information about JU's MS in Health Informatics, call toll free 855-364-4939 or visit http://www.jacksonvilleu.com/
