Despite the IRS delay, Jackson Hewitt wants taxpayers to know that starting their tax preparation early comes with a host of benefits:

Be in the know sooner: Taxpayers can find out the amount of refund owed to them (or amount due), receive assistance understanding what they may qualify for under the Affordable Care Act, select how they prefer to receive their refund and have everything finalized for the IRS acceptance date.
Get the earliest possible refund: The IRS anticipates that nine out of ten refunds will be issued again this year in less than 21 days, and even with the delay to the start of the filing season until January 31, the sooner taxpayers file their return, the sooner they will get a refund if they are owed one.
Protect against ID theft: Filing early can also help protect against tax time ID theft. If a thief has gotten hold of a taxpayer's personal information, getting their return submitted before the potential theft occurs will prevent it.
