Jack of All Trades: Jackson's S&S Adds U-Haul to List of Services

JACKSON, Miss., Jan. 21, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Store owner Greg Stewart laughs when he is asked what exactly S&S is.

What initially began as a construction and catering company now encompasses a gas station and convenience store. There is even a Baskin Robins® attached to the facility.

Before opening the S&S gas station, Stewart had been catering for 15 years. His love for food is apparent by the fact he still runs a barbeque joint at a friend's U-Haul neighborhood dealership across town. Known for his ribs, Stewart insists the farther south you go, the better the barbeque.

Stewart recognized the business his friend's U-Haul dealership was generating and decided to partner with U-Haul at his S&S gas station. Stewart was not only the first U-Haul dealer in his neighborhood, but he quickly delivered competition to a Penske® dealership down the street.

Stewart will accommodate his customers' needs, whatever they may be. One of his customers drives two hours from Greenville, Miss., to rent U-Haul trucks because his weekend hours are convenient. Stewart is almost always at the location and often stays open late to make sure every customer is assisted.

Despite Stewart's lack of free time and many responsibilities, every December he volunteers at the Jackson Medical Mall, which works with the disadvantaged and low income elderly population in the community. Stewart dedicates his time to helping the elderly with home improvements, putting his carpentry skills to use. Stewart also volunteers at the Jackson Food Bank by serving meals.
