J Vineyards & Winery Holds A "Name That Pinot Noir Wine" Contest
HEALDSBURG, Calif., Nov. 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- If you've ever thought about lending your creative talents to a whimsical endeavor, here's your chance. J Vineyards & Winery is calling on clever wordsmiths everywhere to enter its "Name That Pinot Noir Wine" contest through Twitter, Facebook, and good old-fashioned email.
"Our winemaking team has created a new 2012 multi-vineyard Estate Pinot Noir that is dark, cherry-red in color, and somewhat brooding and dense in flavor and aroma," says Melissa Stackhouse, Vice President of Winemaking at J. "We're in need of a fanciful name that evokes a bit of mystery and captures the spirit of Sonoma County's Russian River Valley."
Coming up with an original, proprietary name is one of the toughest challenges a winemaking team faces. The name needs to be inspiring and should capture the winery's artful and celebratory personality.
"To give you an example of naming a new wine, two years ago we launched the new STRATA Estate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay," adds Stackhouse. "Of course, the word STRATA speaks to our owner, Judy Jordan, and her background as a geologist, as well as the diversity of Russian River Valley soils."
J has been crafting all-American sparkling wines and authentic terroir-driven varietal Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Gris wines from the Russian River Valley for the past 25 years.
