SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- iWin, Inc. today announced it has acquired the rights to Cubis from FreshGames, LLC. Cubis was first introduced in 2002 and quickly became one of the most successful casual game franchises of all time producing over $50 million in gross sales and has been enjoyed by over 20 million players worldwide. For the past 13 years, Cubis has consistently ranked as one of the top 10 online games played on MSN Games and the property has been released on multiple platforms, including PC, Mac, iOS, Android and Web. It has also been customized as an online slots game as well as a real money skill-based game.
This is iWin's fifth acquisition in the past two years but marks the first game IP purchase whereas the other four acquisitions have been game websites. iWin's acquisition of these game sites, along with adding marquee game IP like Cubis to our game collection, further cements iWin's deep commitment to the casual gaming sector. Evergreen titles like Cubis are a rare breed and this brand will help iWin expand its game network and cross-promotional capabilities.
"This is a pivotal acquisition for iWin and I am extremely excited to add Cubis to iWin's game portfolio that includes other hit titles like Jewel Quest and Bubble Town. I have been a huge fan of Cubis and it is undoubtedly one of the most recognizable and widely distributed casual games," said CJ Wolf, CEO of iWin. "It will be an honor to continue to build on the multifaceted success of Cubis by creating new sequels and bringing the game to a wider audience."
"Cubis was the first game our studio released and due to its incredible success, it paved the way for many other successful titles," said Stephan Smith, CEO of FreshGames. "FreshGames has worked with iWin for over a decade and we have always been impressed by their quality of work and creativity so I am optimistic about the future of Cubis in the hands of iWin."
