CENTENNIAL, Colo., March 30, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- It's Never 2 Late (iN2L), the pioneer and market leader of engagement technology designed for residents in senior living communities, announced today it has successfully rolled out to its 2,000th site, Sunny View Retirement Community. With iN2L, residents can intuitively 'touch their way' to person centered programs and meaningful experiences.
Sunny View is part of Front Porch, one of Southern California's largest not-for-profit providers of senior living communities and skilled nursing centers. Front Porch installed the iN2L engagement kiosks in Sunny View and measured their impact on residents and staff. The technology improves quality of life by actively engaging residents in experiences unique to their interests and cognitive abilities. iN2L has created and sourced an unparalleled content and application library, which is easily accessed through the use of its advanced, propriety User Experience design, via both standard and adaptive computer hardware.
"iN2L has had an uplifting and permeating impact throughout the Sunny View community," said Davis Park, director of Front Porch Center for Innovation and Wellbeing who studied the effects of iN2L with residents. "It really is an effective tool in our Summer House memory care neighborhood for improving engagement of residents and reducing the use of medication."
Park added that Front Porch chose to partner with iN2L because of their ability to individualize programs so they are pertinent and engaging to residents, which produces better outcomes. Park and his team used pre- and post-intervention surveys to measure iN2L's impact on anxiety and mood levels.
"We observed a marked improvement in social engagement and reduction in anxiety. We found tremendous outcomes, including elevated moods, social engagement, openness and interaction. Residents are smiling, laughing and interacting more." Caregivers also reported sharper focus in memory care patients and multi-sensory stimulation in lower functioning residents.
Front Porch Outcomes using iN2L technology:
- Overall increase in energy level = 30%
- Staff-resident relationship improvement = 27%
- Staff-resident family improvement = 43%
- Improved most recent family visit = 57%
"The iN2L technology has endless possibilities for connections, relationships and joyful interaction. It's building community," said Sally Plank, Sunny View executive director. "The innovative technology has engaged the interest of residents throughout our entire community."
"iN2L's person-centered engagement technology has been used in communities throughout the U.S. for a number of years, but this is some of the most thorough documentation we've seen regarding its benefits," said Tom Bang, iN2L CEO. "Through their study Front Porch Center for Innovation and Wellbeing has validated the positive impact of iN2L on residents and staff. Davis Park and the entire Front Porch organization are to be commended for demonstrating their market leadership by helping others understand how they too can enrich their residents' quality of life and outcomes."
