itelligence Announces SAP ERP Go-Live at Universal Acoustic and Emission Technologies
Completes First North American SAP NetWeaver Business Client 3.0 Implementation
CINCINNATI, May 19 /PRNewswire/ -- itelligence announced today the successful "Go Live" implementation of SAP NetWeaver® and SAP NetWeaver® Business Client 3.0 (NWBC) at Universal, an Acoustic and Emission Technologies Company. It is a global manufacturer of acoustic, emission, and filtration systems used in the discrete manufacturing, power generation, marine, oil and gas, and locomotive industries. This implementation of the SAP NWBC technology platform, a rich desktop client that offers a unified environment and single point of entry to SAP and non-SAP applications, is the first in North America.
The newest version of SAP NWBC offers midsize companies opportunities to embrace collaboration, connect people and optimize the SAP end user experience. SAP NWBC also supports generic desktop functions, like drag and drop and popup windows through the utilization of the corresponding APIs. The result is an efficient, modern and attractive client environment ideally suited to the power user.
"Our decision to pursue an SAP ERP implementation was driven by the reality of having outgrown our slow, reactive legacy system and a desire to improve system performance and overall data integration in North America and globally," said Karla Maloney, IT director, Universal. "We selected SAP largely due to the integrated product offering that SAP provides to give our organization capacity to grow and utilize the active information-oriented software package at a global level."
Universal selected itelligence as their implementation partner based on SAP's recommendation and an impressive demonstration of SAP NWBC by itelligence. "Although itelligence entered the picture late in the game, they made an immediate impression on us through their extensive contact testing of SAP NWBC, as well as their ability to present a complete, end to end, 'day in the life' business scenario for us on the first day of the project," said Karla Maloney, IT director, Universal.
She added, "itelligence quickly proved they not only had a seamless partnership with SAP and the right industry experience, but they also were synchronized with us on a clear vision of how the SAP solutions will benefit our forward-looking, global business. In addition, we were promised, and received, an extremely quick sales cycle for the project—with initial contact to signing of software and services taking approximately three months."
The official implementation project for Universal started in November, 2009 and was initially scoped as an "installation" approach using the SAP Discrete Industries Best Practices package along with HCM functionality. SAP BusinessObjects and selected itelligence intellectual property (IP) developments also were added. This approach utilized the functionality largely identified during the sales cycle and used this content, beyond the standard core business content delivered by SAP Best Practices, in the project implementation itself. The first phase of the project focused solely on system installations at Universal's Americas facilities in Stoughton and Muscoda, Wisconsin, and San Luis Potosi, Mexico. Universal intends to extend its use of SAP to its worldwide sales offices in the United Kingdom, Germany, India and China by 2011.
"The success of our implementation team is a credit to their acute focus on Universal's unique needs and their thorough knowledge of the dynamic user interface design and integration capabilities found in SAP NWBC," said Steve Niesman, CEO and president of itelligence. "We're proud to have successfully completed the first implementation of this type in North America, and we are confident the knowledge and experience gained from this project will benefit future projects with Universal, as well as other projects involving our itelligence global organization."
