IRVINE, Calif., Jan. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Broadcom Corporation (Nasdaq: BRCM), a global leader in semiconductors for wired and wireless communications, today announced that it has received awards in five brand leadership categories for Ethernet LAN-on-Motherboard (LOM). The brand leader awards represent the perceptions of IT professionals in an annual survey conducted by IT Brand Pulse, an independent market research firm. The survey respondents selected Broadcom as the overall LOM brand leader, as well as the leader in four other categories including price, performance, reliability and innovation.
Broadcom's family of LOM system-on-a-chip (SoC) solutions are built on field-proven, best-in-class networking and storage software drivers that are fully adopted by mainstream operating systems such as Microsoft, VMware®, Linux®, and Oracle. Broadcom leads the market in the delivery of low power, small footprint LOM solutions that eliminate the need for external memory, resulting in simpler designs and power savings and deliver the industry's highest performance in throughput and input/output (I/Os) per second.
Frank Berry, CEO, IT Brand Pulse
"Over 70 percent of IT professionals surveyed know the brand of LOM in their servers because it makes such a crucial difference on how their networks will function. The results of our Brand Leader survey indicate that IT professionals clearly recognize Broadcom as the LOM market leader, and in particular, superior performance stood out as one of Broadcom's key strengths."
Vinod Lakhani, General Manager, Broadcom's High-Speed Controller Group
"It's an honor to have been selected as the brand leader, particularly by the IT professionals who rely on our technology every day. This award is a tribute to our continued commitment in providing the best LOM solutions on the market."
