ISRA Rifle Range to Hold 10th Annual Open House
KANKAKEE, Ill., June 11, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following was released today by the Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA):
The ISRA is pleased to announce that its 10th annual open house will take place on Saturday, June 23, 2012, at the ISRA Rifle Range near Bonfield, IL. The gates open at 10:00 a.m. with a 4:00 p.m. wrap up.
The event is open to the public free of charge and will feature a variety of activities including static displays of vintage military vehicles and reenactments from WWII, Vietnam, and the French & Indian Wars. Lunch will be available in the pavilion.
Of course, the most popular feature of the open house will be our mini version of "Commercial Row" where representatives of the top firearm manufacturers will be on hand to answer questions about all the latest firearm models that they will have on display. Attendees who hold valid Illinois FOID cards will have the opportunity to test fire many of the display firearms. There is a nominal fee for ammunition. Eye and hearing protection is provided free of charge. Attendance at an on-site range safety meeting is required for all persons wishing to test fire demonstrator firearms. No personal firearms will be allowed on site.
Members of the media wishing to attend must call (815) 635-3198 to arrange for an escorted tour of the facility.
"This is a great opportunity for the public to come out and see our world-class range facility," said ISRA Executive Director, Richard Pearson. "It's also a great opportunity for anyone interested in the shooting sports to come out and see what it's all about. We'll have experienced coaches and range officers on site to answer questions and give pointers to improve shooting skills. The shooting sports are a great American pastime; I encourage everyone to bring their families out to our open house for a day of wholesome fun and camaraderie."
The ISRA Rifle Range is located on Warner Bridge Road, 1589 N 7000W, Bonfield, Illinois – approximately midway between Route 17 and Route 113. GPS coordinates for the range are: 41 degrees 08'26.55"N 88 degrees 00'38.15"W.
