Isolux Corsán ranks as the second top group providing the most assistance in this project. The group has been awarded more than 20% of the construction work, at a cost exceeding €140 million. The company's duties will focus on the construction of traction substations, a task which it will carry out independently, and the implementation of the catenary and power systems, whereby it will construct substations for lighting and online equipment, in this case, together with Azvi.
The modernisation of passenger transport infrastructure in Mexico is the primary objective of the Ministry of Communications and Transport, and the construction of the Mexico-Toluca intercity railway is the first step towards achieving this goal. This new route will provide a service to an average of 290,000 passengers per day, thus preventing the daily circulation of approximately 200,000 vehicles thereby reducing CO2 emissions and increasing safety. Moreover, journey times will be reduced by approximately 90 minutes.
The benefit to the community will be evident long before the railway line becomes operational. Profitability will also be reflected through the thousands of direct and indirect jobs created by the construction of the line.
