In a record time of nine months the company, has just completed the construction of the largest photovoltaic plant in Europe in the Italian province of Rovigo, with a surface area of 85 hectares and an installed power of 72 MW.
The facilities, developed by the American company SunEdison are located in the region of Veneto ( Rovigo/ Italy). It will generate enough clean electricity to provide for the annual consumption of a population of 50,000 inhabitants and will also save the atmospheric emission of 41,000 tonnes/year of CO2.
280,000 installed modules
Isolux Corsan has made every endeavour, from the perspective of logistics and human resources, to undertake the construction of this photovoltaic plant. It has employ a total of 500 people. In addition it has used a total of 280,000 solar panels based on monocrystalline and polycrystalline technology, more than 6,000 tonnes of steel structures and more than 840 kilometres of various types of cabling, e.g. low voltage, high voltage, fibre optic, etc. were used.
The plant is also fitted with cutting-edge technology for its remote monitoring and centralised operation and also for anti-intrusion monitoring and control along the more than 4 kilometres of the perimeter enclosure.
Other relevant projects
In conjunction with the Rovigo photovoltaic plant, Isolux Corsan is now finalising other photovoltaic projects in Italy with an output of 27 MW. Prior to this, it is worth highlighting the 170 MWp installed in Spain mainly for the company T-Solar one of the leading independent power producers (IPPs) in the international market for renewable energie . This includes the Arnedo plant ( Rioja province/ Spain), one of the largest in the country covering a surface area of 70 hectares and producing an output of 34.19 MWp.
For the forthcoming years, Isolux Corsan is addressing the challenge of consolidating the internationalisation of this activity abroad with new projects. Examples of these currently in progress are in France, Italy and Greece, North Africa (Algeria and Morocco) and USA, as well as in emerging countries in which the constructor and concessionaire is making considerable inroads. Such is the case in India, Brazil and Mexico.
Isolux Corsan's activity in developing photovoltaic projects ranges from administrative processing, engineering and construction through to the commissioning and maintenance of the facilities for their entire service life. The management and execution of all work is underpinned by the main official management certifications for the areas of R&D&I (UNE 166.002), quality (ISO 9001), environmental management (ISO 14001) and the prevention of occupational risks (OSHAS 18001).
