Isocore Gives Alcatel-Lucent's Service Router Portfolio Thumbs Up for Exceeding Service Provider Requirements in Industry's Most Rigorous Testing Program
Industry-first tests verify solution's ability to handle massive scale and performance needs in support of multiple services simultaneously
PARIS, March 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris andNYSE: ALU) today announced that Isocore, the leader in validation and interoperability of emerging and next generation technologies, has confirmed that Alcatel-Lucent's Service Router portfolio can address the most demanding requirements of service providers for the delivery of a variety of sophisticated services simultaneously, in great volume. Results certify that, when deployed as a Multi Service Edge (MSE) for the delivery of advanced business networking services, Alcatel-Lucent's offering is highly efficient, massively scalable and highly reliable. It also confirms that it meets and exceeds next-generation MSE requirements for any service provider network today.
Isocore's independent tests replicated a real-world mixed services environment for all layer two (L2) and layer three (L3) business networking services such as Carrier Ethernet VPN services and IP VPNs, rather than contriving a theoretical projection. All tests were conducted multiple times with tens of thousands of services terminating hundreds of thousands of service end points.
"The magnitude of the combined scale of MPLS-based IP-VPN, VPLS and VLL services with added application assurance to deployed services is impressive and unique," said Rajiv Papneja, Director of Technology Validation at Isocore, commenting on the test results. "This test confirms the network design and operational readiness of Alcatel-Lucent solution to deliver highly scalable, resilient and high-performance real-world multiservice networks."
The all-around performance of the Alcatel-Lucent's Service Router based Business Networking Services was confirmed when the system effortlessly scaled to more than 100,000 L2 and L3 VPN services with millions of Ethernet and IP destination addresses being concurrently learned across the edge and core network. In addition to performance and scale, special emphasis was placed on evaluating end-to-end stability, as required for the delivery of stringent real-world service guarantees. Alcatel-Lucent's integrated service adapter (ISA) and related Application Assurance feature set for L2 and L3 mixed VPNs were also evaluated as part of the extensive testing.
Also notable, the independent test results are validation for Alcatel-Lucent's Highly Converged Service Edge for business, residential, and mobile services, a component of Alcatel-Lucent's High Leverage Network™ architecture. This was the third and latest set of tests conducted by Isocore on the Alcatel-Lucent IP/MPLS portfolio. Previously, Isocore tested and validated the Alcatel-Lucent IP/MPLS portfolio for residential and mobile backhaul solutions under similar high-stress, real-world test conditions.
"These tests conclusively demonstrate that Alcatel-Lucent can provide service providers with trusted solutions for business, mobile and residential services with the same service router platform," says Basil Alwan, president of Alcatel-Lucent's IP activities. "The Alcatel-Lucent Service Router portfolio is the only family of products that has been independently validated under strenuous real-world conditions for three separate deployment applications highlighting the unique breadth and depth of this portfolio."
Isocore's evaluation of the IP/MPLS solution for converged business networking services focused on the Alcatel-Lucent 7750 Service Router (SR) and 7450 Ethernet Service Switch (ESS) product lines. To read a summary of the test and access the full report, visit:
