RONKONKOMA, N.Y., Feb. 27, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- While serving as a Suffolk County Fire Rescue Emergency Services Dispatcher in 1994 and two years later creating the first county-wide computerized dispatch logging system, Robert Gronenthal saw a need. He recognized that First Responders, Fire Fighters and Law Enforcement Officers required a higher level of integrated technology, mobility and vehicle communication and connectivity to accomplish their missions from their headquarters to the field and when driving their vehicles. In 1998 Gronenthal founded the company that he now manages as CEO and Partner. His company, Island Tech Services (ITS) (www.itsg.us.com), is a leading provider of advanced technology, mobility and vehicle solutions, which serves New York, New Jersey, New England and beyond. The company, celebrated its 20th year in business this past month, and Gronenthal credits its success with the deep understanding of the unique customer community it serves.
"Municipal buyers, including first responders, fire and law enforcement agencies, are responsible for providing community safety and emergency response. The technology they require to support them must be 100 percent reliable and ready to roll at a moment's notice," says Gronenthal.
The company was originally named Creative Database Concepts, after its focus on providing fire records management for county fire departments. As the company expanded its services to include computer networking, Gronenthal partnered with Pyramid Technology Services Corp., led by president, Peter Vescovo. Together the two partners relaunched and renamed the merged company Island Tech Services, moving the combined staffs into an office space in Patchogue.
As the need for greater office and mobility hardware and software increased among its customer base, the company partnered with leading vendors to provide office technology, as well as rugged and durable laptops and tablets. It also expanded to provide comprehensive vehicle upfitting services – turning cars and SUVs into law enforcement and rescue mobile command vehicles.
The company has continually expanded its abilities and coverage area through acquisition and strategic partnering. Today, ITS owns a 10,250 sq. ft. headquarters building in Ronkonkoma, NY where it provides on-site vehicle upfitting services. The company also recently announced its New England expansion to better serve customers in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Connecticut and Rhode Island.
"We are proud of our team and partners and the focus and dedication to customer service they provide," Says Gronenthal. "We are looking forward to increasing our geography as well as the solutions we can offer our customers."
