Island Pacific Supermarket Takes Proactive Steps To Address Coronavirus Outbreak
WALNUT, Calif., March 13, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- The Filipino-American Supermarket chain, Island Pacific Seafood Market, currently with 16 locations serving California and Las Vegas has been proactively addressing the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
Island Pacific have taken the following steps to better serve our community during these critical times:
- Island Pacific has increased the frequency and intensity of our store sanitation procedures. We have focused our effort in high-contact areas such as shopping carts, doors, restrooms, and dining areas. All throughout our stores, we will also have sanitation wipes and antibacterial dispensers.
- Island Pacific has deployed public service advertising campaign in all our supermarkets to reinforce preventive measures that we all can take to help limit the spread of COVID-19. We will also make public service announcement in all our in-store media that will educate the public how to detect symptoms of COVID-19.
- Island Pacific will provide information and training to employees on prevention of "Airborne Transmitted Diseases," and will be ensuring that employees that are sick or have any symptoms of respiratory illness does not report to work.
- Island Pacific Purchasing Department has significantly increased our inventory reordering to create enough safety stock to ensure that the community we serve can have confidence that the essential food products they need will be adequately supplied. We are currently experiencing temporary shortages in rice categories, but this problem will be resolved in the next few days.
- Island Pacific has pledged honest pricing and will not participate in any price gouging which has been widely reported in other markets. In order to make sure that the stores can meet the demand without inflating the selling price we will be limiting the quantity that can be purchased of certain product categories to reduce instances of panic buying and product resellers that are driving up the prices.
The health and safety of our customers, employees, and our community will always be our top priority! We will be open for business during regular hours but will continue to monitor any changes in guidelines issued by the CDC and/or local public health authorities.
