ISG and Apptio Announce Global Strategic Partnership to Help CIOs Gain Transparency into IT Spend
Consulting expertise and automated tools provide real-time visibility into IT costs to enhance Technology Business Management capabilities
STAMFORD, Conn., Sept. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Information Services Group (ISG) (NASDAQ: III), a leading technology insights, market intelligence and advisory services company, today announced a global strategic partnership with Apptio®, the leading provider of cloud-based Technology Business Management (TBM) software.
TBM, which aligns the business with the finance and IT functions, requires the ability to rapidly assess and validate IT spending, and is essential to managing business demand for IT resources. The combination of ISG's data, operational insights, and strategic consulting, together with Apptio's leading SaaS-based applications, is designed to significantly enhance an organization's TBM capabilities by increasing its visibility into the cost, quality and value of the services it delivers.
"ISG and Apptio are strategically partnering to help CIOs and IT leaders of global large and mid-size enterprises gain real-time insight into operational performance and increase the value of their IT investments," said Todd Lavieri, president, ISG Americas. "This combination will establish a system of measurement and control to continually identify opportunity for improvement and enable better decision-making around how IT resources are consumed."
Through the partnership, Apptio's TBM SaaS-based applications will automate access to ISG's industry-leading benchmarking repository of operational metrics, enabling real-time analysis against peers based on data collected from more than 3,400 global companies across 28 industries. Additionally, ISG and Apptio will build joint solutions to further address the TBM market opportunity and help organizations maximize the value derived from TBM initiatives. ISG also is developing a practice group to deliver configuration and implementation services to support the sale and delivery of joint solutions.
Over the past decade, total IT spending has soared, despite significant reductions of IT costs on a per unit basis. This trend has been driven largely by unconstrained consumption of IT by business users. By linking IT service delivery to business decisions through ongoing analysis of operational performance, the partnership aims to address this longstanding challenge.
"CIOs who intend to transform and manage IT as a service need deep visibility into the cost, quality and value of IT. Together, Apptio and ISG provide the insights and strategies CIOs require to act on this knowledge," said Michelle Hodges, VP of Channels and Alliances at Apptio. "We're very excited to collaborate with ISG to bring this capability to our existing joint customers and new customers globally."
Through the partnership, the two firms will undertake joint go-to-market activities to increase their global reach and deliver greater value to existing and new clients. Together, ISG and Apptio cover more than 80 percent of the Fortune 500.
Steve Hall, ISG partner, and Chris Pick, the TBM Council president and Apptio chief marketing officer, will be speaking at ISG's Sourcing Industry Conference (SIC) event, September 29-30, in Dallas. They will be discussing the need for total cost transparency and business alignment as an emerging imperative.
