iSend Named Connecticut's Fastest-Growing Technology Company
2008-2011 Revenue Growth Places iSend at the Head of the 2012 Marcum Tech Top 40
MIDDLEBURY, Conn., Sept. 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- In an award ceremony held last night, iSend, a leading international electronic payments service, took top honors in the 2012 "Marcum Tech Top 40," a ranking of the fastest-growing technology companies in Connecticut as determined by The Connecticut Technology Council (CTC) and Marcum LLP.
This year's Marcum Tech Top 40 identified the fastest-growing Connecticut companies in the categories of Advanced Manufacturing, Energy/Environment/Green Technology, IT Services, Life Sciences, New Media/Internet/Telecom and Software. Awards were presented to each category's top performer in terms of percentage revenue growth over the years 2008–2011. iSend, which realized 58,906 percent revenue growth during that period, was named the top company in the New Media/Internet/Telecom category as well as top growth company overall.
In accepting the award, iSend president and CEO Steve LaBella thanked iSend's executive and sales teams, investors and international business partners. "The international payments market space is highly competitive and moves at top speed," said LaBella. "Our people, our backers and our partners have all done a tremendous job of pulling together repeatedly to seize opportunities, and this recognition makes me proud to be part of the team and in the company of such great Connecticut innovators."
"iSend has skillfully capitalized on the exploding global phenomenon of people who have left their countries of birth and are using mobile and internet technologies to assist family members back home, capturing for Connecticut some of the business value of a trend that has been noted by many as something that is reshaping our planet," said Matthew Nemerson, President & CEO of the Connecticut Technology Council.
To qualify for the Marcum Tech Top 40, companies must have had operating revenues of at least $50,000 in 2008 and $3,000,000 in 2011, be headquartered in Connecticut, and own proprietary technology or proprietary intellectual property that contributes to a significant portion of the company's operating revenues; or devote a significant proportion of revenues to the research and development of technology.
