(ISC)2 Appoints Bruce Beam as Chief Information Officer
Former Naval officer becomes association's first CIO
CLEARWATER, Fla., Jan. 10, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- (ISC)2 – the world's largest nonprofit membership association of certified cybersecurity professionals – today announced the appointment of Bruce Beam, CISSP, as Chief Information Officer and Vice President. In this role, Beam will be responsible for guiding the digital transformation and technical growth initiatives of (ISC)2 and will combine enterprise risk and portfolio management into one practice.
Beam has served as Director of Infrastructure and Security at (ISC)2 for the past year, overseeing the Security, Infrastructure, QA, Release and Project Management teams at the association. Based in Clearwater, FL, Beam will report to (ISC)2 Chief Operating Officer, Wesley Simpson.
Prior to his role with (ISC)2, Beam spent three years at CoreSite, where he served as Senior Director of Information Security and IT Infrastructure and led a risk-based management strategy to integrate and fully optimize information security across all business units.
Bruce has more than 20 years of information security, IT and business experience in large and small companies and served more than 27 years in the United States Navy. His experience spans from the deck plate up to executive levels defining strategy, innovation, integration, and automation with a core tenant of security.
Bruce's experience in the U.S. Navy enabled him to engage in multiple disciplines for worldwide operations with both military and civilian counterparts. Bruce led numerous worldwide initiatives while in the U.S. Navy and with Citibank before leading all Information Security and Infrastructure at CoreSite.
Bruce is a CISSP and CISM and holds a Master of Information Technology and Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland University College. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from Jacksonville University and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Valdosta State University.
