(ISC)2 Announces Winners of Eighth Annual Information Security Leadership Awards Americas
Winners were recognized at Security Congress in New Orleans for outstanding achievements
CLEARWATER, Fla., Oct. 9, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- (ISC)² – the world's largest nonprofit association of certified cybersecurity professionals – today announced the winners of the 2018 Information Security Leadership Awards (ISLA®) Americas.
The awards program celebrates the accomplishments of individuals in the private and public sector throughout the Americas, outside of U.S. federal government, who are inspiring change within the field of cybersecurity. Recipients were announced today during the ISLA Americas luncheon at the eighth annual (ISC)² Security Congress in New Orleans, LA.
"The ISLA Americas ceremony is an inspiring event that showcases what leaders in our field are doing to help us achieve our vision of inspiring a safe and secure cyber world," said (ISC)² CEO David Shearer, CISSP. "The winners are enabling positive change within their organizations, communities and the industry at large. We are honored to recognize their achievements in front of more than 1,800 of their peers at our annual Security Congress event."
The winners of the 2018 ISLA Americas are:
Community Awareness –
- Joseph Carson, CISSP, Chief Security Scientist at Thycotic
- Project/Initiative: Cyber Security for Dummies
Information Security Practitioner –
- Domingo Castillo, CISSP, AVP Regional Information Security Officer at Chubb
- Project/Initiative: Information Security Technology Convergence
Senior Information Security Professional –
- Rinki Sethi, CISSP, Vice President of Information Security at Palo Alto Networks
- Project/Initiative: Security Education Growth Initiative
The (ISC)² President's Award, which recognizes outstanding volunteer efforts over the past year, was presented to Wilson España, CISSP. España is the deputy manager of information security and fraud prevention at Redbanc and also serves as an official instructor for the CISSP certification. He is a member of the (ISC)² Advisory Council in Latin America and is currently president of the (ISC)² Chile Chapter.
The Center for Cyber Safety and Education, the charitable foundation of (ISC)², also presented two awards. The first, the Julie Peeler Franz "Do It for the Children" Volunteer Award was presented to Satish Jayaprakash, CISSP, the Global Head of Application Security at Merck Co. & Inc. The Center also honored Engility with its Partnership Award for their CyberWarrior Scholarship program.
This year, a judging committee of five members of the (ISC)² Advisory Council in North America reviewed the nominations and selected the winners based upon specific criteria and eligibility requirements.
