(ISC)2 and The Center for Cyber Safety and Education Open Application Period for 2018 Women's Cybersecurity Scholarships
Scholarship program aims to bring more women into the cybersecurity field
CLEARWATER, Fla., Jan. 29, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- (ISC)²® – the world's largest nonprofit association of certified cybersecurity professionals – and its Center for Cyber Safety and EducationTM are accepting applications for its 2018 Women's Cybersecurity Scholarship program. The application period closes at midnight EST on March 1, 2018.
The (ISC)² Women's Cybersecurity Scholarship program is administered by the Center for Cyber Safety and Education. With the global cybersecurity workforce gap and an underrepresentation of women in the field (only 10 percent are women), this program was created to inspire more women to become cybersecurity professionals. In total, (ISC)² and the Center for Cyber Safety and Education have provided over one million dollars in cybersecurity scholarships. Multiple scholarships totaling up to $40,000 will be awarded. International applicants are accepted.
"Through this program, we are looking to inspire more women to enter the challenging, rewarding career field of cybersecurity," said Patrick Craven, director, Center for Cyber Safety and Education. "I look forward to awarding deserving students with the financial assistance they need to pursue their educational dreams."
The Center evaluates applicants based on academic excellence, passion for the industry and financial need. Begun in 2011, the (ISC)² Women's Scholarship program has made a lasting impact on these individuals:
"It was such an honor to receive this scholarship," said Ai Nguyen (U.S.A.). "Not only it lessened my parents' burden of my tuition fee, it also allowed me to work less and have more time to concentrate on studying security. Receiving this scholarship makes me believe that my hard work has really paid off and there are so many people who still care for students, especially women's, education as well as success. I will definitely try my best to deserve what I have received and spend all my time contributing to the computer science community."
"I am extremely thankful to (ISC)² and the Center for Cyber Safety and Education for selecting me for this prestigious scholarship," said Aventhika Ramesh (U.S.A.). "My educational pursuits would not be possible without the generous support from scholarship sponsors like (ISC)² and the Center for Cyber Safety and Education."
"Being in the information security community for more than four years, I have always followed (ISC)² events and workshops all around the world," said Mudita Khurana (India). "I am really grateful that they gave me a chance to broaden my infosec skills and knowledge by assisting me financially in my master's program. Hopefully, whatever I take away from my graduate program, I can give back to the community one day."
