(ISC)2 and the Center for Cyber Safety and Education Open Application Period for 2018 Graduate Cybersecurity Scholarships
Scholarship program aims to bring more professionals into the cybersecurity field
CLEARWATER, Fla., March 1, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- (ISC)²® – the world's largest nonprofit association of certified cybersecurity professionals – and its Center for Cyber Safety and Education™ are accepting applications for its 2018 Graduate Cybersecurity Scholarship program. Multiple scholarships between $1,000 and $5,000 each will be awarded. The application period closes at midnight EST on April 17, 2018.
The (ISC)² Graduate Cybersecurity Scholarship program is administered by the Center for Cyber Safety and Education. With the global cybersecurity workforce gap, this program was created to inspire more people to become cybersecurity professionals. In total, (ISC)² and the Center for Cyber Safety and Education have provided over $1 million dollars in cybersecurity scholarships. International applicants are accepted.
"Due to the shortage of cybersecurity professionals, this program aims to provide students with the education they need to enter the workforce," said Patrick Craven, director of the Center for Cyber Safety and Education. "Graduate students often need funding to conduct special research projects, which for some would not be possible without the support of these scholarships."
The Center for Cyber Safety and Education evaluates applicants based on academic excellence, passion for the industry and financial need. Since 2011, the (ISC)² Graduate Scholarship program has made a lasting impact on these previous recipients:
"The Center for Cyber Safety and Education scholarships are an excellent effort by (ISC)² to ensure that our talent pool remains vibrant. The advancement of cybersecurity as an industry and discipline is essential to the continued safety and well-being of everyone. Cultivating a pool of talented and educated professionals is critical, especially in these early days of our line of work and being able to continue to be a part of this evolution is truly exciting. Winning this scholarship is both an honor and a privilege in the interesting times we live in. I look forward to continuing to make a positive contribution to our cyber ecosystem."
- Andre Shori, Malaysia
"I am endlessly grateful to be awarded the 2017 (ISC)² Graduate Scholarship. With the generosity and support of the Center for Cyber Safety and Education, I can continue my studies toward my master of science degree, focusing on my passions for cybersecurity and intelligence, STEAM, education and a safe and secure world for all. I believe in myself as an information security professional and as a digital defender in the fights against violence, exploitation and modern-day slavery. I plan to run to serve in the U.S. Congress one day, and I will implement my expertise in this field at the local, national and global level. This scholarship does not just empower me and give me the opportunity to continue my education, but it allows me the ability to empower, educate and protect others. I am grateful for the commitment of (ISC)² and the Center for Cyber Safety and Education to making the cyber world a safe and positive place for everyone. Thank you for believing in me and allowing me to be a part of this mission."
- Jessica Gottsleben, U.S.
"I am deeply humbled and grateful to be chosen as a recipient of this award. Continuous education in the field of information security is a must for me as it feeds my appetite for knowledge expansion. Being awarded this scholarship from the leading authority in cyber education, (ISC)², facilitates that and I am thankful."
