ISARA to present at ETSI Workshop in London
Cybersecurity firm helping develop standards for quantum-safe solutions
WATERLOO, Ontario, Sept. 6, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Three executives of ISARA Corporation, the leading provider of security solutions for the quantum computing age, will lead or present sessions at next week's ETSI/IQC Workshop in London that highlight the company's commitment to the collaborative development of quantum-safe standards.
ETSI, which produces globally applicable standards for information and communications technologies, is playing a critical role in developing standards for the quantum age. Those industrywide standards will define how organizations encrypt, share, store and use data in the quantum age.
To help advance that goal:
- Mark Pecen, Chief Operating Officer of ISARA and Chairman and Founder of the ETSI Working Group on Quantum Safe Cryptography will present an update on the working group's progress and moderate a panel on The Importance of Standardization.
- Mike Brown, ISARA's Chief Technology Officer, will moderate a panel on Quantum Safe Products and Services.
- Atsushi Yamada, Vice President of Research and Development at ISARA, will present on Quantum Safe One Pass Key Establishment.
"ISARA is committed to the excellent mission and work of ETSI,'' said ISARA CEO Scott Totzke. "Cooperation among governments, industry and academics is the surest path to developing successful standards and allowing for implementation of quantum-safe initiatives.''
Experts estimate that a large-scale quantum computer will be developed within the next decade. With immense computing power driven by quantum mechanics, such a computer offers the potential for huge advancements in areas such as artificial intelligence and material design. But it also will be capable of breaking the public key encryption standards that protect all of the data, software updates and technology now in use.
Pecen, chair of the working group on Quantum Safe Cryptography, said the committee has made significant progress since its founding in March 2015 and he will provide updates to the ETSI gathering. The working group meets five times annually and is focused on the practical implementation of quantum-safe primitives, including performance considerations, implementation capabilities, benchmarking and practical architectural considerations for specific applications.
The ETSI/IQC Workshop starts with an Executive Track on September 13, following by an in-depth technical track on September 14-15.
