Isabella Products, Inc. Expands Its Fable Children's Tablet Pilot Program to Include New York City Public Schools
Extending Beyond Boston-Area School Districts, the Pilot Program Begins in Harlem this Week in Select Second Grade Classrooms
CONCORD, Mass., Jan. 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Through an initiative with New York City Public Schools, Isabella Products, Inc. expands its children's tablet pilot program to include Harlem, New York this week. Fable, a browser-free tablet and content delivery platform designed exclusively for children, will be used in second grade classrooms at P.S. 50, The Vito Marcantonio School.
To date, Fable has been piloted in several Massachusetts school districts and non-profits including the Boston Public Schools, Everett Public Schools, and Quincy Community Action Programs' Head Start. Now tapping into its third major public education system, Isabella Products, Inc. will introduce New York students to a new, safe, secure and affordable educational tool that supports the delivery of an engaging digital learning experience.
"We are thrilled to expand our Fable pilot program into New York as we continue to build upon the extremely successful program in Massachusetts," said Isabella Products' Founder and CEO, Matthew Growney.
P.S. 50 is a New York City community school supported by The Children's Aid Society, whose mission is to remove barriers to children's learning and healthy development through enrichment and expanded learning programs. Fable, launching in early 2015, enables teachers to set up student profiles that provide a safe way for interaction and exploration of educational content. Teachers have the ability to create personalized lesson plans for individual students by uploading content to each student's Fable.
Ursula Jaycon, a second grade teacher at P.S. 50 implementing Fable in her classroom, is excited to bring this technology to her students. For many of them, English is a second language – as a whole the school has 8 percent English Language Learners and is 57 percent Hispanic – so Jaycon's approach to learning is more holistic, and she expects Fable will add interactivity and richness to her curriculum.
Fable's initiative with New York City Public Schools began when Growney was introduced to P.S. 50 through Myorr Janha, chief marketing officer of Rush Communications. Rush Communications, founded in 1991 by American business magnate Russell Simmons, is a leading multi-faceted holding company with investments in prominent and respected brands in three industry segments: entertainment and media, fashion and lifestyle, and empowerment.
"I am excited to help bring two parties together whose vision is to enhance the quality of education for our young people, through creative and innovative technology," remarked Janha.
Fable's publishing partnerships and content support for this pilot will come from National Geographic Cengage Learning: Reach for Reading Program, and the following supplemental games and books: DADA, Lipa Learning, THUP Games, Crave Creative and Skoolbo.
The tablet will be available for purchase online at VizitMe.com and at select retailers in March 2015. Isabella Products, Inc. will also continue to offer Fable pilot programs to additional schools in the U.S. and abroad throughout the next year.
