Company to provide modernized records and information management services
RESTON, Va., Oct. 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Iron Mountain Incorporated® (NYSE: IRM), the global leader in storage and information management services, announced today that it has been awarded a multi-year contract from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), a Bureau of the Department of Commerce. The contract contains a base year of performance running until July 12, 2018, with four additional one-year option periods, and has a value of $6.7 million if all options are exercised.
Under the terms of the contract, Iron Mountain is responsible for relocating approximately 4.6 million patent files from their current storage location, which includes capturing file level metadata, packing, removal and transportation of all records to Iron Mountain's secure, NARA-compliant storage facility. In addition, Iron Mountain will perform all records management tasks associated with these records, including retrievals, refiles, disposition, accessioning and destruction.

Our facilities are purpose-built for agency needs, with modernized services that reduce operational expenses and real property footprints, while improving the security and accessibility of government-owned records. We look forward to assisting USPTO's efforts to reduce their real-property footprint and associated operating expenses, allowing the agency to focus on mission objectives."
As the world's largest provider of records and information management services, Iron Mountain is increasingly focused on meeting government-wide goals to streamline operations, become more efficient and significantly cut costs.
