Iron Laboratories Eugene, Ore., Location Earns Accreditation From The State Of Oregon

WALLED LAKE, Mich., Oct. 4, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Michigan-based medical cannabis testing lab, IRON Laboratories, earned accreditation from the State of Oregon for its Eugene, Ore., location, through the Oregon Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (ORELAP).

The accreditation was required for all Oregon-based cannabis testing laboratories by October 1, 2016. Accreditation testing was conducted and certified by The NELAC Institute, which handles national environmental accreditation through its National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (NELAP).

"This is a very distinguished recognition for us and required a very grueling testing process," said Mike Goldman, COO of IRON Laboratories. "Through this process, we have firmly established our company as a benchmark in the industry by being certified as an environmental laboratory."

Though cannabis testing differs from state-to-state, Oregon has set some of the highest requirements in the nation. The labs who did not meet standards required by the October 1 deadline, are unable to operate until they do.

"Oregon is setting the standards for the rest of the nation and we will be taking the lessons learned through this process to our Michigan locations as well," Goldman added.

Prior to the accreditation, IRON Laboratories had already been certified to ISO/IEC 17025:2005 protocols to test for impurities, and other contaminants, utilizing advanced chromatography and microbial analysis. The facilities also offer consulting and research services as well as testing on all cannabis products, both medicinal and recreational.

IRON Laboratories opened the Eugene, Ore., facility on Oct. 1, 2015.
