IrisVR Launches Multiuser Meetings Built for Instant Collaboration in Virtual Reality
NEW YORK, Feb. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- IrisVR, the leading virtual reality company empowering the architecture, engineering and construction industries, today announced the release of a new Meetings feature within their Prospect software. This update, powered by IrisVR's proprietary Multiuser technology, enables professionals located anywhere in the world to meet and perform collaborative virtual reality walkthroughs of models built with Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, and other 3D tools.
"Meeting in a true-to-scale, digital environment is the next big trend for VR and AR in enterprise markets," says Shane Scranton, co-founder and CEO at IrisVR. "VR used to be a solitary experience, but now it can truly offer immersive collaboration for our users and their colleagues, no matter where they are in the world. Early tests with our customers have shown that this technology will not only improve the client experience and enhance design review, it will also significantly reduce the need to travel while working on a remote project."
Multiuser Meetings provide a shared feature-rich environment with built-in voice chat, which means that everyone in the Meeting will see the exact same annotations, layer settings, sunlight and shadows, and more. Up to 12 users can join Multiuser Meetings via the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift VR headsets.
Users can launch Multiuser Meetings quickly; it can take as little as 10 seconds to enter VR. Meetings are optimized for low latency and high frame rates to ensure a comfortable experience when viewing complex geometry and large models.
Nate Beatty, co-founder and CTO, adds, "The technical foundation we've built to support Multiuser sessions facilitates enterprise-grade meetings today, and enables us to build powerful workflow tools in the future. Driven by our mission to engineer efficient solutions that reduce communication time and increase comprehension among all project stakeholders, we're excited about the features that Multiuser unlocks."
