Iranian-American Organizations Support the Letter by 44 Senators To President Obama Urging a Re-evaluation of Talks with Iran If Moscow Talks Fail

WASHINGTON, June 18, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following is being released by the Iranian-American Cultural Association of Missouri:

 More than 30 Iranian-American communities, associations, organizations and professional entities representing and encompassing tens of thousands of naturalized Iranian-American citizens from across the United States lent their support to the bipartisan letter signed by 44 US Senators, spearheaded by Senators Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and Roy Blunt (R-MO), urging the Obama Administration to take a tougher stance and demand verifiable criteria in future talks with Iran.

The Senate letter addressed to President Obama set several tough preconditions for any talks beyond the latest round of negotiations scheduled to resume on Monday in Moscow.

"Amongst the absolute minimum steps it [Iran] must take immediately are shutting down the Fordow nuclear facility, freezing enrichment above 5 percent, and shipping all uranium enriched above five percent out of the country," the Senators demanded.

The letter further questioned the wisdom of any further talks in the aftermath of the Moscow gathering, unless Iran agrees in no uncertain terms to these steps, adheres to the UN Security Council Resolutions and opens its facilities to complete and unfettered IAEA inspections.

The leading Iranian-American communities noted that they are fully aware of the cunning nature of the Iranian regime and its negotiators at the nuclear talks, and as the talks have been conducted in Istanbul, Baghdad and now in Moscow, the centrifuges have not only been spinning at full speed, but also additional centrifuges have been added to Iran's nuclear facilities in pursuit of its acquisition of nuclear weaponry. 

The Iranian-American communities further emphasized that Tehran's nuclear program is only meant to ensure the survival of the regime and expand its hegemony in the region at the time that it is extremely isolated and very vulnerable at home.
