iQIYI Announces "Cerberus" Premiere Date
First Chinese animated series co-produced with Japanese industry leaders
BEIJING, Jan. 28, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- iQIYI, an independently operated subsidiary of Baidu, announced today that on March 11th, 2016, it will be the first platform globally to stream the anime adaptation of Cerberus, a popular Japanese mobile game. The highly anticipated animated series, Long Xin Zhan Ji, or War of Dragon Heart, is jointly produced by iQIYI and Japanese industry leaders. The show will also be aired on Japan's TV Tokyo in April and in Southeast Asia later in 2016.
As the lead investor in a production committee formed with leading industry players including TV Tokyo, GREE, Medialink, and Children's Playground Entertainment (as agent), to jointly produce, distribute and market Long Xin Zhan Ji, iQIYI spent 15 months on the show to ensure premium quality.
iQIYI will be in charge of marketing and promotion of the show throughout Greater China. Following its TV and online premiere, iQIYI will leverage its powerful video streaming platform, and gaming and e-commerce capabilities to launch sales of Long Xin Zhan Ji related games and merchandise globally.
"Japan is the leader of Asia's animation industry, and as the first non-Japanese company to join and lead a production committee for an animated series in Japan, we are very excited to cooperate with top-tier industry players to explore a new cooperation format and business model," said Xiaoxuan Yang, iQIYI VP and Head of Animation. "In addition to streaming on iQIYI in China, Long Xin Zhan Ji will air on Japan's most popular TV station for animated shows, TV Tokyo. This project demonstrates how Chinese companies such as iQIYI are playing a larger role in Asia's animation industry."
iQIYI established its animation production unit in 2014. Leveraging its huge user base and in-depth knowledge of audience preferences based on big data, iQIYI has produced and launched two popular animated series, including Ling Yu, which received over 140 million views for its first season.
