IPC The Hospitalist Company Acquires Practice in Central Florida
Opens New Market in Orlando Area
NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif., July 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- IPC The Hospitalist Company, Inc. (Nasdaq: IPCM), a leading national hospitalist physician group practice company, announced today that it has acquired Coast To Coast Physicians Alliance, P.A. Based in Orlando, Florida, the acquisition is IPC's first in the Orlando area and represents the Company's entry into another new metropolitan market. IPC expects to add approximately 26,000 patient encounters annually from this acquisition.
R. Jeffrey Taylor, president and COO of IPC, commented, "We are very pleased to welcome Coast To Coast to the IPC group of practices. We already have a strong presence in many parts of Florida and now see an opportunity to leverage our strengths and infrastructure into the large and growing Orlando market. The physician leaders of Coast To Coast have many years of experience working in the Orlando area and have built strong relationships within the Orlando healthcare community."
Jauvid Ayadi, M.D., co-founder and partner, will continue with IPC as Practice Group Leader. Dr. Ayadi commented, "As we evaluated the growth opportunities for Coast To Coast, we concluded that IPC offers the optimum mix of autonomy for providers and the resources to grow and align with the facilities, payers, and referring physicians that we serve. IPC is the gold standard for small independent practices such as ours, and an attractive alternative to hospital employment." In addition to Dr. Ayadi, partners Prakash Kalan, MD, Robert Powers, DO, and Matthew Owens, DO will remain with the practice.
In a separate and unrelated transaction, IPC acquired the post-acute practice of Eladio Dieguez, M.D., based in Ocala, Florida.
