DES MOINES, Iowa, May 12, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- America's SBDC Iowa has chosen Lincoln Savings Bank as the 2017 SBDC Champion. This honor was created to recognize business partners who go above and beyond in support of small businesses.
According to Lisa Shimkat, State Director of the Iowa SBDC, "As we considered candidates for this new award, we wanted to be sure we chose a very special partner as our Champion. Ultimately the choice became very clear. Lincoln Savings Bank has stepped up [to] increase their assistance and efforts to help small businesses."
Lincoln Savings Bank is proudly owned and managed in Iowa by Iowans who are committed to the communities they serve. That commitment reveals itself in their passion to assist small business startups and growth.
An award ceremony was hosted on May 4 as LSB celebrated alongside business owners and customers. "[LSB] has been truly a champion in helping us get the message out by helping the businesses that are starting and to keep main street Iowa on track," said Secretary of State Paul Pate as he presented the award.
"While it certainly is an honor to win this award, the real privilege is getting the opportunity to serve small businesses," said Erik Skovgard, LSB's President and CEO. He said these owners are "the American dream in play. They are hard-working people with big dreams and a passion to serve their employees and their communities. It is our honor to serve them."
"Too often, people see government as this big barrier," said Pate. "We have agencies like America's SBDC and our own secretary of state's office ready to step in and give guidance."
Founded in 1902, Lincoln Savings Bank now has 16 locations and has expanded to offer a variety of bank and financial services to its loyal customers. In addition to Personal Banking services, Lincoln Savings Bank also offers Business Banking, Mortgage Lending, Real Estate Services, Trust Services and a variety of Insurance products and Investment Services.
Funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration, America's SBDC Iowa has helped Iowa businesses and entrepreneurs through no fee, confidential, customized, professional business counseling and training workshops since 1981.
