IoT Industry Expert Joseph Bradley Appointed Chairman of Board for Hortau
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif., Dec. 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Hortau, a provider of precision irrigation management systems and services for agriculture since 2002, has announced the appointment of Internet of Things industry expert Joseph Bradley as Chairman of its Board of Directors.
Bradley is also the President of Business Ventures at Uptake, a predictive analytics platform provider that transforms data into measurable gains in productivity, cost savings and operational safety for the industrial sector.
Previously, Bradley was the Global Head and Chief Business Officer for IoT Works by HCL, and was the Vice President of the Internet of Everything Practice for Cisco Consulting Services.
An evangelist for IoT technology, Bradley brings a wealth of experience and thought leadership to Hortau and its IoT platform for agriculture, having spent three decades in the communications, service provider, software and technology industries.
"We're thrilled to have the opportunity to work with an industry-leader like Joseph Bradley," Hortau CEO Jocelyn Boudreau said. "Joseph is a great fit for our company and leadership team because he shares our passion for emerging technology, and providing solutions to today's real-world challenges through the use of IoT platforms."
While with Cisco Consulting Services, Bradley was also senior research fellow for the Global Center for Digital Business Transformation, and previously led its Research & Economics, Strategic Communications and Operations functions.
"I'm excited about the work Hortau is doing and the opportunity to be part of its future," Bradley said. "In my experience, the IoT industry is all about enabling people to be more productive and effective, making better-informed decisions to enjoy a better quality of life. That's exactly what Hortau does for farmers with its irrigation management platform, and I can't wait to see where the company goes from here."
Hortau's smart irrigation management platform reports to growers how crops are faring in real time – before stresses such as drought or lack of aeration can have a negative impact on a crop. This proprietary, plant-centric approach measures plant stress using soil tension, ensuring optimal crop growth, and reducing water and energy consumption, as well as environmental impacts such as leaching.
