IOD Incorporated Emerges as Leading esMD Release of Information Provider

GREEN BAY, Wis., Oct. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ IOD Incorporated™, a leading provider of integrated HIM solutions to hospitals, IDNs, healthcare systems and clinics, today announced that it has surpassed all other release of information (ROI) providers for electronic submission of medical documentation (esMD) data to Recovery Audit Contractors (RAC) in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) program.

By connecting its PRISM® online tracking/reporting system with the Nationwide Health Information Network (NwHIN) project in January 2012, IOD became a CMS certified esMD Health Information Handler (HIH). The certification enabled IOD to electronically respond to RAC requests via NwHIN on behalf of its clients, replacing the current paper or CD/DVD submission process.

This announcement follows a September press release regarding PRISM integration for the Direct Project, which conforms to standards specified in the Stage 2 Meaningful Use Final Rule.  The PRISM enhancement will enable healthcare providers to securely share information electronically between themselves and patients and help them meet criteria for reimbursement as indicated in the Final Rule. IOD will be demonstrating its PRISM Direct integration at the 2012 American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) Annual Convention in Chicago this week.
