NEW YORK, Jan. 23, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Kaplan Fox & Kilsheimer LLP (www.kaplanfox.com) is investigating claims on behalf of investors of NCI, Inc. ("NCI" or the "Company") (NASDAQ: NCIT).  Investors who purchased shares of NCI common stock prior to January 23, 2017 may be affected.

On January 23, 2017, NCI disclosed that based on the preliminary findings of an internal investigation, NCI's controller embezzled approximately $18 million from the Company over the past six years.  The Company's preliminary findings indicate that the embezzled funds were reflected as expenses in the Company's financial statements.  NCI also concluded that the Company's interim financial statements for the nine-month period ending September 30, 2016 "contain material errors related to the theft", and that Quarterly Reports on Form 10-Q for the first three quarters of 2016 should not be relied upon by investors.  In addition, although the investigation is ongoing, "the Company believes that material weaknesses existed in its internal controls during the relevant periods during which the embezzlement occurred."

Following this news, NCI's common stock fell more than 9% during intraday trading.
