NEW YORK, June 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Investopedia, the premier online source of trusted financial information and services, today announced the inaugural INVESTOPEDIA 100, a ranking of influential financial advisors based on social, digital and event clout. Powered by a team of PhD data scientists and financial experts, Investopedia analyzed financial advisors based on their presence on social media platforms, traditional media outlets and blogs as well as their marketing efforts to rank 100 financial advisors. The INVESTOPEDIA 100 will be an annual ranking that creates a prominent list of the top advisors influencing investor decisions.
In a recent survey of Investopedia's financial advisor contributor network, Advisor Insights, users ranked social media as the third most valued method to gain new leads after their online subscription registries and their own professional website/blog. The same study found that 80 percent of financial advisors expect technology to greatly affect the industry.
"Engaging with your target audience on digital channels is no longer an option, but a necessary tool to differentiate yourself in an already crowded space," says David Siegel, CEO of Investopedia. "While other rankings focus on AUM and other financial metrics, in the digital world we live in, we felt it was important to provide a distinguished ranking based on assessed industry influence and impact."
The top ten financial advisors are:
- Josh Brown, CEO, Ritholtz Wealth Management
- Michael Kitces, Partner, Director of Wealth Management for Pinnacle Advisory Group, Co-Founder, XY Planning Network, Publisher, Kitces Report and Nerd's Eye View
- Marguerita Cheng, CEO, Blue Ocean Global Wealth
- Ted Jenkin, Co-CEO and "social media ninja" of oXYGen Financial
- Jeff Rose , CEO and Founder, Alliance Wealth Management
- Brittney Castro, Founder and CEO, Financially Wise Women
- Kirk Chisholm, Wealth Manager and Principal at Innovative Advisory Group
- Ann Zuraw, President, Zuraw Financial Advisors
- Stephen Rischall, Co-Founder of 1080 Financial Group
- Cathy Curtis, Founder, Curtis Financial Planning

"With the increase in passive investing and regulatory changes, advisors need to utilize every possible platform to communicate with their audience. By engaging on digital and social networks, advisors can connect with their clients and prospects on the channels they use most," added Siegel. "This is one of the primary reasons we launched Advisor Insights - to provide an easy tool for advisors to help consumers while also elevating their personal brand."
The INVESTOPEDIA 100 contains both advisors that applied as well as individuals chosen by the Investopedia editorial team.
